Troubleshooting 101: Did You Try…? (Easy Fixes Before You Panic)

Before you dive into the deep end of tech forums, try these simple steps first—sometimes the “easy way out” is the best way out!
1. Refresh & Restart
Have you tried refreshing the page or restarting the program?
Sounds obvious, but it fixes a ton of random glitches.
2. Full Reboot
When in doubt, shut down your PC, wait 10 seconds, and power it back up.
Magic, right? You’d be amazed how often this works.
3. Any Error Messages?
What does the error actually say?
Copy it, Google it. Someone else has probably seen it—and fixed it.
4. Check Internet vs. Offline Programs
Can you run programs that don’t use the internet just fine?
If yes, it’s probably a network issue—not your whole computer.
5. The “Pay Your Bill” Check
Don’t laugh—sometimes the simplest answer is the right one.
Log in to your provider’s website or check your email for “oops” notices.
6. What’s Happening Outside?
Seen anyone climbing utility poles or digging near your street?
Could be planned maintenance or an accidental line cut.
7. Power Cycle Your Modem/Router
Unplug your modem and router, wait 30–60 seconds, plug them back in.
Just like browsers build up “cache” and need a refresh, modems/routers need a break too.
8. Check the Lights
Green/blue = good.
Red = usually a bad sign.
Blinking lights? Could mean reconnecting, updating, or trouble.
