Sector-47: Perimeter Report 9 – “The Footfall Event”

Heavy, slow, deliberate.
Walking on top of the perimeter wall.

By the time the patrol arrived, the footsteps had already traveled a full kilometer, leaving faint indentations in the reinforced plating—perfectly spaced, perfectly aligned, too deep for any standard exo-suit. The perimeter cameras recorded nothing visible, only the platform shifting under invisible weight.

When the tracks reached Tower Sector Nine, they stopped abruptly.
At that exact moment, every greenlight in the colony pivoted upward, illuminating the sky above the ridge. Sensors captured a single vertical energy signature rising straight into the atmosphere—thin, cyan, vibrating at the same frequency as the tremor from earlier reports.

Then the sky responded.
A ripple of soft green distortion spread across the clouds, revealing for a fraction of a second the outline of a humanoid figure—stretched tall, blurred by light, its lower limbs fading into static.

Before the image vanished, every perimeter speaker in Tower Sector Nine whispered the same phrase:

“Nine steps remain.”

Nine steps… toward what?
Entry?
Contact?
Or something beneath the colony finally reaching the surface?
