Material shard dissolved before analysis; residue contained no identifiable compounds.

For the first time since the colony was built, the Greenline Tower—the central power spire that feeds the perimeter grid—registered an internal descent. Not a drop in energy. An object moving downward inside the tower’s hollow maintenance shaft.

The tower isn’t supposed to have moving parts inside.
It’s a sealed structure.

But last night, motion-scan detected a slow, steady fall from the upper ring toward the mid-core. When technicians opened the nearest access panel, they found something resting on the metal grate: a thin shard of translucent material, glowing faintly cyan. The shard pulsed once when touched, then dissolved into a fine mist that drifted upward through solid plating.

Minutes later, the entire Greenline Tower dimmed—
not in failure, but in synchronization, humming with a low rhythm that matched the tremor pattern from yesterday.

Residents living nearest to the tower reported seeing shadows moving across the cyan-lit panels inside the structure… shadows with no physical source.

The tower isn’t malfunctioning.
It’s responding.

And whatever moved inside it wasn’t trying to hide.
It wanted the colony to know:

it can enter the infrastructure whenever it chooses.
