Diver unit quarantined; neural logs corrupted yet repeating.
Layer Violet sits miles beneath Pluto’s visible surface — a pressure zone so intense that only the Syndicate’s heaviest cyborg units can operate there. It's where the deepest intake valves draw raw water from the subglacial ocean, feeding the oxygen refineries above.
Today, a Diver-class unit reported something unprecedented:
the ocean moved first.
Before the drill began its cycle, sonar registered a disturbance — not a creature, not a current, but a shape rising slowly toward the intake shaft. The Diver froze. Sensors recalibrated. The shape flickered in and out of existence like a skipped video frame.
Then the unit received a transmission.
Not radio.
Not digital.
Not Syndicate.
A direct neural ping —
in a voice the Diver recognized as its own.
The message was only a single phrase:
“Stop drilling. You release more than water.”
Moments later, the sonar image vanished. The ocean returned to stillness.
But the Diver’s internal chronometer shifted — jumping ahead by exactly 61 minutes, matching the missing time window from Dockyard Theta.
Something beneath the ice isn't just alive…
It’s communicating.
And it understands the Diver units perfectly.
