Corridor Nine is a maintenance tunnel carved through the older layers of Pluto’s ice sheet — a place where only cyborg technicians roam, checking for fractures and keeping the oxygen lines stable. Normally, the corridor is empty, lit only by dim blue lamps and the soft hiss of frost melting off metal.

But today, technicians reported hearing something impossible in a vacuum-rated tunnel:
footsteps. Human ones.

When the Syndicate’s scout unit entered the corridor, they found frost disturbed in perfect intervals, as if someone had walked through moments earlier… yet no life signs registered. The corridor’s audio logs picked up faint echo-patterns, replaying on a loop — the same five footsteps, repeating like a recording trapped inside the ice itself.

Then the tunnel lights glitched.

For less than a second, every lamp in the corridor flashed a red pulse — synchronized, deliberate, unmistakably patterned.
A message, not a malfunction.

The logs indicate the pulse matched the exact rhythm of the footsteps.

Whatever moved through Corridor Nine wasn’t physically present.
It may not have been from the current timeframe at all.

The Syndicate suspects the oxygen thief isn’t hiding underground…
They may be phasing through it.
