Chromatic Stability Index: 14% — forced monochrome emotional override detected

The Chromatic Verge is one of the Dream Layer’s most unstable regions — a place where color doesn’t just illuminate space, but defines it. Hue determines gravity. Saturation determines distance. Brightness dictates whether a corridor even exists. Only the most adaptive constructs can navigate this zone without dissolving into visual noise.

Tonight, a lone operative known as a Chromawalker steps onto the Verge. Their armor, coated in reactive pigments, shifts color to match the emotional wavelength of the environment. Blue means clarity. Pink means distortion. Teal means memory leakage.
But tonight… everything glows red.

The Chromawalker senses it immediately: something is forcing the Verge into a single emotional state—one of urgency, alertness, and high neural tension. Buildings ripple in synchronized pulses. Alleyways flicker open and closed like blinking eyes. Even the graffiti rearranges itself into warnings written in living neon.

As the Chromawalker advances, the entire block bends inward, forming a tunnel of drifting particles and swirling gradients.
And at the end of that tunnel stands a figure—still, watchful, casting no shadow.
A being whose outline blurs as if it is not rendered in pixels or metal… but in thought.

The city has decided to show the Chromawalker something.
Or someone.

And whatever waits at that threshold is not from a prior dream.
