“Apex Ignition: A rare synchronized flare sequence believed to originate from the planet’s earliest thermal core—older than recorded history.”

At the highest accessible tier of Ion Prime lies the Apex Traverse—a suspended walkway bridging the uppermost industrial towers, where heat plumes erupt like solar flares and the sky trembles beneath the planet’s radiant pressure cycles. Few citizens even know this level exists; fewer still survive long enough to witness its shifting geometry. The Apex is where Ion Prime breathes hardest—where furnace pressure vents into the atmosphere, creating shimmering distortions that bend perspective into impossible angles.

During Cycle 330, Gatewalkers were dispatched to investigate a pattern of unexplained overburn signatures emanating from the Apex. Upon arrival, they encountered a surreal landscape: molten reflections stretched across the floor like glowing water, structures folded inward as though responding to unseen gravity waves, and airborne luminescent dust clustered into swirling halos above the walkway. Every step felt like walking between heat and hallucination.

This project captures the moment a lone Gatewalker pressed deeper into the Traverse just as the apex vents ignited in synchronized bursts, illuminating the city below in cascading waves of orange light. Scientists argue the event was a mechanical glitch. Gatewalkers insist it was a signal—an awakening—from the oldest furnace lines buried beneath Ion Prime.
