From this vantage, one can see the molten arteries of the city branching outward like glowing capillaries, each pulsing with thermal life. For most citizens, the Rise is a myth; access is restricted to Gatewalkers and high-clearance observers due to its intense atmospheric pressure and unstable venting cycles.

During Cycle 304, an anomaly triggered a citywide alarm: a radiant flare erupted from the Rise with enough intensity to momentarily distort the sky, bending the clouds into geometric spirals. Gatewalkers dispatched to investigate found the tower humming with an ancient frequency—one predating even the earliest furnace networks. Standing at the peak, the operative witnessed the skyline ripple like heated glass, revealing hidden strata of off-grid structures, buried conduits, and spectral silhouettes watching from unseen tiers of the city.
