Above the molten infrastructure of Ion Prime rises the Halo Crossing—a suspended transit bridge encircling the upper furnace district like a glowing crown. Once a maintenance route reserved for thermal technicians, the Halo Crossing became infamous after a series of unexplained energy blooms began warping the walkway’s magnetic field. Now, each step across the bridge feels like walking through a shimmer of half-formed memories and heat mirages.
Gatewalkers dispatched during Cycle 263 documented the phenomenon firsthand. Their sensors recorded microsecond flashes of alternate versions of the Crossing—sometimes empty, sometimes crowded with silhouettes wearing armor styles that had never existed. The bridge seemed to reveal branching futures, selecting which ones would bleed into view based on the emotional state of those crossing it. Fear sharpened the anomalies. Determination stabilized them. And hesitation… hesitation caused the Halo to ripple like a disturbed pond.
This project captures the moment a Gatewalker halted mid-span, surrounded by swirling orange haze, as countless possible timelines flickered at the edges of perception. The Halo Crossing wasn’t just a bridge—it was a decision point, a living chronicle of what Ion Prime might become.
