Threshold Creed: “If the vents grow quiet… run.”
The Emberline Threshold marks the boundary between Pyreline’s controlled furnace districts and the unregulated heat zones beyond. It is a place where the sector’s precision ends and its instinct begins — a narrow walkway lined with luminous conduits and half-functional vents, each one exhaling the sector’s raw breath into the open corridors.
Enforcers stationed here speak quietly, as though their voices might disrupt the delicate balance. The Threshold is unpredictable. Some cycles, the vents glow softly like dying embers. Other cycles, they erupt in violent flares that melt tools and scorch armor plating. No patrol marches through here without a heat-read ritual performed beforehand — a brief moment where operatives press their palms to the conduit and wait to see if the sector “accepts” their presence.
Tonight, the air hums with resonance. The conduits flicker. The vents rumble. Something in the deeper heat-lines has begun to stir, and the Emberline Threshold feels less like a border…
and more like a warning.
